These Glock based 9mm AR-15 conversions typically have a magazine well sized for Glock magazines. An example of a Glock magazine dedicated 9mm AR lower would be Unbranded AR from Critical Capabilities. It’s not surprising given the shear volume of Glock handguns in the field. The Glock magazine compatible dedicated 9mm lower receiver is gaining market share lately. DEDICATED 9mm AR-15 LOWER RECEIVERS – GLOCK STYLE MAGAZINE A couple of examples of these 9mm lowers would be JP Rifles GMR 13, CMMG MK9 SMG dedicated 9mm lowers, Orion and Colt 9mm lowers if you can locate them. The first and most common style of dedicated AR-15 9mm lower receiver essentially has a HAHN conversion block built in and typically uses the same 32 round Colt magazines mentioned above.
DEDICATED 9mm AR-15 LOWER RECEIVERS – 9mm CONVERSION BLOCK STYLEĭedicated 9mm AR-15 LOWER RECEIVERS come in a couple different variations. These 9mm AR receiver conversion units typically use Colt style 32 round magazines based on modified uzi magazines. Hahn makes the most reliable of both styles.
The other style drops in the magwell from the top of the receiver. One locks into the AR-15 magazine well like a typical rifle magazine. The 9mm conversion block comes in two styles. The other option is to use a 9mm magwell conversion block. The down side of the Olympic Arms system is the magazines are proprietary and heavy. The positive side to this system is that an upper receiver swap is all that is required to switch between 9mm AR-15 and standard AR-15 configuration. For starters you can buy some Olympic Arms 9mm AR-15 Magazines that work directly in a standard AR-15 magwell. The field of available dedicated 9mm AR-15 LOWER RECEIVERS is growing at a reasonably fast pace.That said it’s important to remember that you do not need a dedicated 9mm AR-15 lower to have an 9mm AR-15.
